Named after the Carew family former owners of Biggin Grove house in the 16th and 17thCentury. Sir Nicholas Carew (c. 1496 – March 3, 1539), was an courtier and diplomat during the reign of King Henry VIII. He was executed for his alleged part in the Exeter Conspiracy.
