Union Court, TW9

Place Name

James Green, Judith Filson, and Margaret Watson in The Streets of Richmond and Kew suggest this street first mentioned in the rate books of 1820 may have been a reference to the Act of Parliament creating the Union with Ireland in 1801. The real reason may be a little more prosaic, the name was popular at the time to suggest a link, usually between two streets but possibly, in this case, the joining together of two businesses. The court itself was redeveloped in 1980.
