The Daily Chronicle was a newspaper published between 1872 to 1930 when it merged with the Daily News (founded in 1846 by Charles Dickens) to become the News Chronicle – the new paper continued for a further 30 years, with its last edition on October 17, 1960, after which it was absorbed into the Daily Mail. This is part of Fairview New Homes Edition Development, which has been built on the former British Newspaper Library site in Colindale which closed in 2012. The estate features several streets and buildings named after newspapers with Telegraph Avenue, Observer Close, and Guardian Avenue and apartment blocks Gazette Court, Courier Court , Times Court, and Herald Court (no modern tabloids are featured).
