Leys Gardens, EN4

Place Name

A ley is a spring or water meadow. The namers of this road were stretching the definition since this road is laid out close to the fish ponds (or possibly even the outdoor swimming pool) on the former Belmont estate – that later became Haddon Court School – which had been filled in when the original house was demolished in the early 1930s.
