Place Name
Laid out as part of the Littlegrove Estate development of 1931. This is not named after the school, but rather the town whose Berkshire neighbour is Windsor. It is so-called here due to its proximity to Windsor Drive. The name Eton is derived from Old English words meaning river town. Eton is most famous as the site of Eton College, founded by Henry VI in 1440, which has shaped the development of the settlement. The college dominated local life and restricted expansion by holding the surrounding land, though it also brought prosperity through pilgrims, fairs, and inns.
