Trueman Road, CR8

Place Name

One of seven streets named after “Kenley’s Few” RAF officers stationed at the nearby airfield who lost their lives during the Battle of Britain during World War Two. Alec Albert Gray Trueman (1914 – September 4, 1940) was a Canadian flying officer who was shot down over Kenley and crashed in Banstead, Surrey. The street sign – like all seven – has the rare distinction of a brief history of his life.
