Named in honour of Violet Everleen Sutton (December 7, 1883 – May 7, 1948) daughter of Captain Francis Richard Hugh Seymour Sutton and Lady Susan Elizabeth Lascelles. Violet was the first wife of Major-General Albemarle Bertie Edward Cator (1877 – November 18, 1932), who was heir to the Cator family’s property in Beckenham. The pair married on September 1, 1903 and their son, Peter Harry, was born five years later. But when Major-General Cator returned from serving during the First World War, the couple had grown apart and divorced in 1920. She later remarried.
