Place Name

Named after the Reverend George Townsend Driffield, originally from Prescott, in Lancashire, who was the rector of the nearby St Mary’s Church, Bow, for 36 years from 1844 until his retirement in the 1880s, during which time the Bryant and May match factory was built.
