Place name

Named after William Urquhart Arbuthnot (March 24, 1807 – December 11, 1874) who lived at Bridgen Place, Bridgen, Bexley, the son of Sir William Arbuthnot and Anne Alves. He was a member of the Council of India, magistrate for the county of Kent and formerly of the Madras Civil Service between 1860 and 1874. He was with Arbuthnot & Co., a mercantile bank, based in Madras, India. His son Reginald James Hugh Arbuthnot (June 2, 1853 – September 19, 1917) was an English businessman and amateur cricketer who played two first-class cricket matches for Kent County Cricket Club.
