York Road, TW10

Place Name

A bit of a misnomer, while it has a royal name and is one of the roads in The Alberts, unlike most of the other streets nearby it is not actually named after a member of Queen Victoria’s family as there was no Duke of York between 1827 and 1892 – the York Cottages were first mentioned in 1870 when this was part of Albert Road.
