Place Name
Literally a hamlet or farmland next to woodland, although as early spellings of the area reveal this would have been agriculture land, hence it was recorded as Woodsendfeld in 1548. The woodland in this case being Finchley Wood which was once part of the great woodland that stretched across Middlesex.
