Place Name

Lady Anne Conolly Wentworth (1712 – 1797) was the granddaughter of Thomas Wentworth, 3rd Earl of Strafford, and wife of Sir George Byng, 1st Viscount Torrington, who employed Isaac Ware to design him Wrotham Park. Admiral Byng, however, did not have long to enjoy this Palladian mansion, three years after it was commissioned he was court-martialled and executed for failing to relieve a besieged British garrison during the Battle of Minorca. Wentworth Road was built sometime around 1925.
