Ulleswater Road, N13

Place Name

Likely inspired, like its neighbour Derwent Road, by the lakes of Broomfield Park. Derwentwater and Ullswater (the name of the road is a misspelling) are two of the great lakes of Cumbria. This was laid out over Palmers Green sometime around the turn of the 19thCentury. The origin of the name Ullswater¬†is uncertain. It has been suggested it is Ulf’s lake, from Old Norse personal name Ulfr.
