Ulleswater Road, N13

Place Name

Likely inspired, like its neighbour Derwent Road, by the lakes of Broomfield Park. Derwentwater and Ullswater (the name of the road is a misspelling) are two of the great lakes of Cumbria. This was laid out over Palmers Green sometime around the turn of the 19thCentury. The origin of the name Ullswater is uncertain. It has been suggested it is Ulf’s lake, from Old Norse personal name Ulfr.
