Thomas Fyre Drive, E3

Place Name

Named in honour of Thomas Fyre (circa 1710 – April 3, 1762), a painter who is best known for his claim to being “the inventor and first manufacturer of porcelain in England”. He went on to  manage the Bow porcelain factory in the mid-18thCentury (although the site is actually within the bounds of Newham).
