Place Name
This and Rabbits Road which is nearby are thought to be literal references to the rabbits that lived on the former Aldersbrook estate. Or at the very least inspired by the name of the local pub, the Three Rabbits, which has now vanished. There had been an alehouse recorded on the site since the 1630s. The pub was said to have been used by dealers trading at the annual cattle fairs on what is now Wanstead Flats, until the 19thCentury. It was closed in the 2000s.
