Place Name
No surprises but this refers to the nearby Kew Gardens station. It was originally part of Lichfield Road leading to the forecourt of the station. But in 1897 it was changed to reflect the proximity to the railway, old habits died hard however, and it was still being referred to as Lichfield Road by Richmond Council’s Highways committee, no less, until 1902.
