Place Name
Originally Gutteridge Street as it led to towards Gutteridge Wood. It was later changed to Star Road after the name of a nearby pub, which was demolished in 2014. The reason for the change of name is unclear, but most likely the result of residents complaining about its associations with the gutter, leaving wits to joke that they were living in the gutteridge but looking at the star. Interestingly, this is a rare error on the part of Ordnance Survey. In the 1960 map this street name is transposed with that of the neighbouring Heath Road.
