Place Name
Like Stanmore Road, it takes its name from Stanmore House which has stood on Kew Road since at least 1878. The name comes from Stanmore, which means stoney wetlands, in Harrow but there is no clear reason why it was chosen. This road was laid out sometime around 1893.
