Snow Hill, EC1A

Place Name

Formerly Snore Hylle at the time of Henry III and later Snowrehille in the 16thCentury, the exact meaning unknown. But it is possibly from an Old English word snōr meaning twist or a road that curves across a gradient. The original Snow Hill followed a roundabout route.
