Place Name
Named after John Simonds who bought Etloe House following the death of Cardinal Nicholas Wiseman in 1865. Simonds, a Conservative, was a prominent member of the Leyton Local Board. He also held Church Farm and Ive Farm. The road was developed between 1901 – 1907.
