Sans Walk, EC1R

Place Name

A local family name, given in 1893 after Edward Sans, then the oldest member of the local parish vestry, a photo-type local council, of St James and St John, Clerkenwell. The road was laid out in the late 18thCentury, first appearing on William Horwood’s 1799 map as Shorts Buildings on its western side, and St James’s Walk, on its eastern side.
