Rom Crescent, RM7

Place Name

This is a reference to the nearby River Rom, which is the name used to describe the middle stretch of the River Beam. This was originally more crescent shaped. The river took its name from the town Romford, which itself means a broad or wide river crossing, rather than the other way around. Before taking its new name the Rom was known as Merchedyche or dirty stream.
