Place Name
Previously French Alley, as featured on Rocque’s map of 1746. The present name honours the 2nd Earl of Radnor, Charles Bodvile Robartes, who was governor of the French Hospital built on this site for Huguenot refugees in 1708 following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. Radnor Street occupied the site of the hospital which was moved to Rochester.
