Place Name
Sir John Kirkland, an army agent who provided banking services for soldiers, bought Blackfen Farm in 1861 and renamed it Queen’s Wood, after the reigning monarch Queen Victoria. It has been suggested the name could have been inspired by the nearby Crown Woods.
