Princes Street, EC3V

Place Name

As acts of royal sycophancy go, this proved a little premature. It was laid out and named following the Great Fire of 1666 along with King Street and Queen Street, after the ruling monarch Charles II and his consort Catherine of Braganza. However their union failed to produce an heir – let alone a male one and so this was named after a non-existent prince.
