Place Name

Named after Francis Pigott Stainsby Conant (1809 – January 21, 1863), whose family owned the land. Pigott, the additional names were adopted by his father as a condition of claiming inheritances, was a Whig politician. He became Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from October 22, 1860 until his death.
