Place Name
Named after the former Peterstone Priory, a house of Augustinian Canons founded in the 12thCentury in Burnham Overy, Norfolk. Following flooding it was annexed by the Canons of Walsingham and in 1449 was used as a combined priory and hospital. Today it is ruins. This road like many in the surrounding area is named after a former religious house in reference to the nearby ruins of Lesnes Abbey, which has given Abbey Wood its name.
