Perrymans Farm Road, IG2

Place name

Agricultural heritage. This was laid out over land that had previously been Perrymans Farm. It was bought by the Birkbeck Building Society in the 1870s and a small estate was developed soon afterwards amid the rural setting. The name of the farm is thought to have come from a former occupant who had a pear orchard here, from the Old English word pyrige and Middle English word perie meaning pear tree.
