Place Name
Called after Emerson Park’s developer William Carter’s home town of Parkstone in Poole, Dorset. Several other streets in the locality were named after some of Carter’s family and senior staff. The road was officially named in 1903 along with Berther Road, Herbert Road, Carter Road, Curtis Road, Isabel Road, and Ernest Road. Carter began developing Emerson Park in 1895. The name literally means the park (boundary) stone.
