Osborne Road, DA17

Place Name

Named after Queen Victoria’s summer residence Osborne House in East Cowes, on the Isle of Wight. Nearby Dryhill Road was previously called Queen’s Road after the then monarch, hence the reference. Osborne House was built between 1845 and 1851 for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a summer home and rural retreat as an escape from court life in London and Windsor.
