Place Name
No surprise but this was indeed the site of a former dock. Early maps of the area show an inlet from the River Thames. James Green, Judith Filson and Margaret Watson authors of The Streets of Richmond and Kew speculate that the royal barge may have been kept here when the monarch was staying at Kew. Later an expanded dock served the Medina works and when they were no longer the inlet was filled in and built over.
