Occupation Lane, W5

Place Name

This has nothing to do with employment, rather revives an ancient use of the road. Before its development the area was agricultural land. This name comes from a lane or path that ran through the fields providing a right of way for villagers to gain access to their own plots of lands. It was a road with private rights for those with an interest in adjacent land, similar to, but not quite the same, as an accommodation road.
