Place Name
Thought to be named after a 17thCentury publican called John Nicholls who was born in Plaistow in 1579. But equally it could be named after the Nicholls family owners of the manor of Bromley Hall. It was purchased by Richard Nicholls in 1717 and sold by his grandson George Nicholls from Cambridge in 1799.
