Place Name
This is adjacent to Ravensbury Park. Means the hill by marshes, albeit a slight rise between the valleys of Beverley Brook and the River Wandle. It was recorded in Anglo-Saxon times as Mordune in AD969. In the aftermath of the Norman Conquest it was written as Mordone in the Domesday Book of 1086 and later Moreden in 1204.
