Mohmmad Kahn Road, E11

Place Name

Previously called Edgecombe Road as part of an alphabetical sequence – Aylmer Road, Barfield Road, Carlton Road, Dacre Road, and Edgecombe Road. It was changed in 1995 to honour the first Asian councillor at Waltham Forest Council who was a benefactor to the Leytonstone Mosque. The name change was not without some local controversy, as local residents were not informed beforehand and the local authority refused to amend the sign to include its old name.
