Place Name
An Arabic term for mosque, reflecting the culture of the people who have made Tower Hamlets their home. Like the ubiquitous Church Street, there is a mosque on this road, the Burdett Estate Masjid. This was laid out over the eastern end of the former Clemence Street and Streatfield Street, which were heavily bombed during the Second World War.
