Place Name
Lubbock Road takes its name from Sir John Lubbock, 1st Baron Avebury, (April 30, 1834 – May 28, 1913) the founder of Bank Holidays, who lived at Lamas for some years. Among his other claims to fame, although probably less appreciated, he also coined the terms Palaeolithic and Neolithic to denote the Old and New Stone Ages.
