Place Name
The name has been in use from at least the 14thCentury, this was the crossing that carried the lane to Barking across Loxford Water. John Field in Place-Names of Greater London speculates that it may well be named after a person called Locc, or possibly could mean winding stream. It was recorded as Loxford in 1319.
