Lower Grove Road, TW10

Place Name

Originally part of the far longer Grove Road, which was split into two during Phase II of the development of the Queens Road estate by the Richmond Parish Lands Charity. It was named on March 1, 1984. Grove Road is thought to have taken its name from Grove Lodge “a large house in Queens Road, replaced first by the Marist Convent (bombed during the war) and then by St Edward the Confessor School”. The road was first shown on the 1834 Hume and Smith map for sewers but not named.
