Place Name
According to Sheila Fairfield in The Streets of London, this road is named after the Lefevre family of brewers and maltseters who operated around Old Ford and Limehouse in the late 18thCentury. Local historian Chris Weavers is more specific, he says that it was previously called Lefevre Street, which was itself named for George John Shaw-Lefevre, (June 12, 1831 – April 19, 1928) 1st Baron Eversley of Old Ford and a Liberal Party politician.
