Place Name
Literal, this crescent shaped road surrounds a small park. Originally used as a market garden before the area was developed, this was to be a centrepiece to the Selwyn estate plan of 1890, complete with a private tennis court for residents. But within 40 years the sport’s popularity, at least with the local home owners, had waned and the plot was badly neglected. In 1935, Richmond Council was persuaded to buy and maintain the ground.
