Place Name

Named after the painter and sculptor Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (March 7, 1802 – October 1, 1873) who is probably best known for his lion sculptures at the base of Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square. This street was laid out around the turn of the 20thCentury and the first houses occupied around 1904. It is one of a small cluster of streets named after artists, see also Millais Road, Poynter Road and Leighton Road.
