Lancaster Cottages, TW10

Place Name

Takes its name from Lancaster House, which was nearby, but actually built on the former grounds of Elleker House, also called Gothic House and now Old Vicarage School. The cottages themselves were built in the mid-19thCentury but didn’t feature in street directories until 1887. The properties were originally for the working-class, with the 1851 Census recording a drover and a cattle dealer as occupants.
