Lamb’s Passage, EC1Y

Place name

Until 1813 this was called Great Swordbearers’ Alley. It was changed to commemorate Thomas Lamb overseer of the poor who lived in Lamb’s Passage between 1754 and 1813. He owned Lamb’s Buildings which was just around the corner.
