Wife of Jim Dawson, one of the original Thamesmead residents and Councillor for Thamesmead East, serving the London Borough of Bexley. He was one off the principle witnesses to the 1973 local government boundary commission report that argued for splitting Belvedere Ward into two, Belvedere and Thamesmead East “making the part containing the new Thamesmead development into a separate and additional 3 member ward”. The following year, he was one of the first three Labour councillors voted into office in May 1974 to serve the newly created ward and held the seat until the late 1980s.
