Place Name

Thought to be named after the Reverend James Voller (1813 – 1901), a London-born minister who became a major figure in establishing the Baptist church in Queensland, Australia. In 1853 while sailing to Australia, his ship The Meridian was shipwrecked after the ship broke up. All 84 passengers survived and were picked up by a passing American whaling boat.
