Place Name

This road which was laid out in 1896 was built on the grounds of Hillersdon House, named after John Hillersdon who lived there for more than 25 years until his death in 1839. Most of the family later moved and were recorded as living in Eton. However, one son Charles George Hillersdon died in 1857 at the Siege at Cawnpore, India, where he was disemboweled.
