Henry Road, EN4

Place Name

One of a number of roads around New Barnet that have a connection with the Wars of the Roses as a reference to the Battle of Barnet fought on April 14, 1471. This was one of the decisive battles of the bloody conflict that carried on throughout the reigns of kings Henry VI (who was the English monarch from 1422 to 1461 and again from 1470 to 1471) and Henry VII (English monarch from 1485 to 1509) whose defeat of Richard III ended the Yorkists hope of holding onto the Crown. This road was laid out in 1865.
