Hall Place Crescent, DA5

Place Name

Named after the manor house Hall Place which was built for Sir John Champenys, a former Lord Mayor of London, sometime around 1540. It replaced an earlier manor from 1241 using stones taken from Lessness Abbey, which had been dissolved under Henry VIII. The street was developed sometime in the early 20thCentury on former woodland.
