Goodman’s Court, E1

Place Name

One of a number of streets named after a local family who farmed the land here from the mid-16thCentury, according to John Stow’s Survey of London, published in 1598. The land had belonged to the nun’s of Saint Clare convent. When the original Goodman passed away his son took over the land.
